The Career Resource Center has been designed to support employees by providing computer resources, tools and professional guidance.

Definition of Services

The Career Resource Center will be an accessible, resource-filled, user-friendly facility for employees seeking Career Management assistance. It is designed to encourage total access to all services. The Center will be staffed with Transition Solutions consultants and Transition Solutions clerical support staff.

The three types of Center services include:

  • Seminar Services Program Orientation, Assessments, Career Management, Networking, and Mentoring Skills.
  • Primary Services – Job Lead Development; Resource Libraries; Individual Counseling; Clerical Support.
  • Special Services – Periodic Special Seminars, e.g., Self-Employment, Financial Planning, Interviewing; Focus Groups including Spouse Support.

Highlights of the Program include:

  • Orientation Sessions – Response to employee needs/ concerns; orientation to the services of the Center, including Career Management and Career Transition Services.
  • Career Management Seminars – Significant assistance will be provided to all employees including clarifying new job objectives, matching current skills to the internal and external marketplace, networking and interviewing job leads, and strategies for success.
  • Individual Counseling – Structured counseling sessions focus on the individual's needs whether they be assessment, job search related, or resume. The purpose is to provide objective counsel concerning career problems or constraints, enabling the individual to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Assessment – Voluntary testing, feedback and counsel regarding interests, skills, needs, style and options are available for those uncertain of appropriate next steps.
  • Special Seminars – Additional seminars will be offered on an as-needed, interest-only basis. Such periodic voluntary group sessions, either reinforcing prior seminar concepts or addressing new campaign subtleties, often make a difference in individual/group success. Financial Planning Seminars are especially valuable at this time.
  • Focus Groups – Support groups, emerging from the needs of several individuals with common concerns, problems or issues during career transitions, can serve a vital role in helping individuals move in a positive direction. Either self-directed or counselor-facilitated, they focus on listening, appreciation, challenging, sharing, and emotional support.
  • Remote Services – Employees who need career transition services and who live outside the Resource Center area, will receive support at more convenient locations.
  • Support Services – The combination of staff, equipment, facilities, and resources is designed to speed users on to satisfying new careers. The level of services provided assumes a high degree of independent, self-directed search activity on the part of users.
  • Resource Library – The combination of reference materials is designed to save users' time in uncovering vital data.
  • CareerSearch Database – We provide the most comprehensive database offering over one million companies and more than 1 million industry selections. Identify the commuting distance or geographic preference, company size and contact information, and we supply a list of target companies.
  • Contact Management – Each individual will have software to bring efficiency and control to the networking process.
  • Internet Services – A computer will be available offering unlimited access to the Internet for job search and research activities.

Job Lead Development – Transition Solutions will be on-site in the Center contacting potential employers. Jobs will be sourced and posted in the Centers. There will be job listings, job bank databases, customized job market reports, and annual reports, search listings, job advertisement listings.
